Governor Kaine Appoints NNFD Chiefs

GOVERNOR KAINE APPOINTS TWO NEWPORT NEWS FIRE DEPARTMENT CHIEFS

Governor Timothy M. Kaine recently appointed Newport News Fire Chief, Kenneth L. Jones and Assistant Chief of Emergency Medical Services, (EMS), James D. Barrick, to serve on the Virginia Fire Services Board of Directors and the State EMS Advisory Board. The Virginia Fire Services Board provides a comprehensive and integrated statewide public safety effort to reduce the effects of fire, medical, and environmental emergencies in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Chief Jones joined the Newport News Fire Department in September of 2001.

 

Chief Barrick has been with the department since October 1, 1975. He became the Assistant Chief of EMS in December of 1990. This is the second time that Chief Barrick has been appointed to represent the Peninsula EMS Council. The Virginia EMS office works through the Virginia Department of Health and provides comprehensive planning and development of a statewide EMS system that provides support and technical assistance to EMS providers.
