Newport News Fire Department Ambulance Fee Information
The Newport News Fire Department complies with the national standard for ambulance transport fees. In general terms:
- City residents with insurance will have no out of pocket expenses for emergency medical services.
- Any patient without insurance can apply for a hardship waiver to cover transport fees. To qualify, they must meet established income requirements.
- City residents without insurance and who do not meet the criteria established to qualify for a hardship waiver are responsible for 80% of the transport fee. The remaining 20% will be adjusted off as a discount.
- Non-City residents with insurance will still be required to pay the co-pay and any deductibles. Also, non-City residents without insurance and who do not qualify for a hardship waiver are responsible for the entire transport fee.
