Description
This is a proposed new four-lane divided roadway beginning at the intersection of Warwick Boulevard and Atkinson Boulevard extending eastward over the CSX railroad, I-64 and intersecting with Jefferson Avenue. An interstate interchange is anticipated further in the future. The City has acquired much of the proposed right-of-way but there will be some additional acquisition. Most of the right-of-way will have limited access.
When constructed, the roadway will be named Atkinson Boulevard.

Status: On hold pending funding. The Location Public Hearing was held on Thursday, November 15, 2007, from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm, at Mary Passage Middle School, 400 Atkinson Way, Newport News, VA. On April 17, 2008 the Commonwealth Transportation Board approved the alignment as shown at the Location Public Hearing.
