Description
The City is continuing its efforts to widen Jefferson Avenue from 41st Street to Fort Eustis Boulevard to a six lane divided facility. The last segment remaining to complete this goal is the project from Green Grove Lane to Fort Eustis Boulevard, which is not yet scheduled.
This segment, the next to the last, extends the six laning northward from Buchanan Drive.
Overhead utilities have been placed underground, there will be landscaping, and wide sidewalks.

Status
Notice to proceed was issued July 20, 2007 and construction began in early August 2007. The project is 93% complete as of October 20, 2009 and is on-time and on-budget. Final inspection is planned for October 28, 2009.
