Emergency Operations Plan

Information on the Newport News Emergency Operations Plan

The Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) is the legal and organizational basis for emergency and disaster operations in the City of Newport News. It assigns broad responsibilities to local government agencies and support organizations for disaster mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery.

It is important to note that the Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) is the document approved by resolution of Newport News City Council for overall coordination of city emergency management incidents. The EOP is not intended to contain the specific procedures used by individual departments and agencies to implement their assigned responsibilities.

The EOP is distributed to all city departments and agencies, and to key organizations outside the city. Limited copies of the EOP are available from Newport News Emergency Management by calling 757-269-2900 during normal office hours or by sending e-mail to dperry@nngov.com
