Commissioner of the Revenue's biography
Charles D. Crowson, Jr. has been employed in the Office of the Commissioner of the Revenue since 1970. He served as Chief Deputy Commissioner of the Revenue before his election to Commissioner of the Revenue in 1994. Mr. Crowson is a Certified Business License Administrator by the National Association of Business License Administrators. He has completed property assessment courses through the International Association of Assessing Officers, Virginia Association of Assessing officials and Commissioner of the Revenue Association and course work in tax administration through Virginia Tech. His accomplishments during his term as Commissioner include staff development and technological updates, seeking suggestions and comments from citizens, promoting regional cooperation in uniformity of taxation procedures, establishment of a satellite office in the Denbigh area of Newport News and providing electronic filing of federal and state income tax returns to the citizens of Newport News. |
