NOTICE OF PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO VOTING DISTRICTS
FOR CITY COUNCIL AND SCHOOL BOARD ELECTIONS
FOR THE-CITY OF NEWPORT NEWS, VIRGINIA


As provided by law, including, but not limited to, the provisions of Section 24.2-306 of the Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended, notice is hereby given that the Council of the City of Newport News, Virginia, will, on August 9, 2011, at 7:00 p.m., or as soon thereafter as the item may be heard, in the City Council Chambers, 2400 Washington Avenue, Newport News, Virginia, conduct a public hearing to receive public comment on a proposal for amendment of the City's voting precincts, districts and ordinances for City Council and School Board elections. Descriptions and a map of the proposed changes may be inspected at branches of the Newport News City Library; in the lobby of Fountain Plaza Two, 700 Town Center Drive, Newport News, Virginia; at the Department of Planning on the 2nd floor of City Hall, 2400 Washington Avenue, Newport News, Virginia; or by viewing the City web site at www.nngov.com/plamring,

City Council encourages interested persons to attend the meeting and to express their views on this issue. Questions concerning this matter may be directed to the Newport News Voter Registrar at 926-8683 or the Department of Planning at 926-8761. If you are disabled and require an accommodation in order to participate in the meeting, please call the City Clerk at 926-8634 at least three (3) days in advance of the meeting.

Council meetings are held in the City Council Chambers located behind City Hall at 2400 Washington Avenue, unless otherwise noted.

Work Sessions for City Council are held on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month prior to the regular City Council meeting in the City Council Conference Room on the 10th floor of City Hall at 2400 Washington Avenue, unless otherwise noted.
