Notice is hereby given that the Newport News City Council will conduct a public hearing on Tuesday evening, November 24, 2009 at 7:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at 2400 Washington Avenue, Newport News, Virginia for the purpose of discussion and taking action on the following:
CZ-09-278, Jeff Bland Associates, LLC. Requests a change of zoning from C1Retail Commercial with proffers to R9 Mixed Use with proffers to allow for the construction of a mixed-use complex which will include 250 apartments and commercial uses on two parcels totaling 13.73 acres located at 12515 Jefferson Avenue and 400 Chatham Drive. The Framework for the Future comprehensive plan recommends regional commercial for this site. The Parcel Numbers are 120.00-02-02 and 120.00-02-03. The Planning Commission recommended approval.
CZ-09-281, Correctional Services Corporation. Requests a change of zoning from O2 Office Park to R5 Low Density Multiple-Family Dwelling with proffers with a maximum density of 11 units per acre to allow for the construction of a 264-unit apartment complex and reservation of single family lots on 26.57 acres located at 5100 Marshall Avenue. The Framework for the Future comprehensive plan recommends open space and urban residential with a density of 7-10.9 acres per acre for this site. The Parcel No. is 288.00-04-04. The Planning Commission recommended approval.
