General Obligation General Improvement Bonds
NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a public hearing will be held pursuant to Section 15.2-2606.A of the Code of Virginia, 1950, by the City Council (the “City Council”) of the City of Newport News, Virginia (the “City”), on Tuesday, December 13, 2011, at 7:00 P.M., local time, at the City Council Chambers, City Hall, 2400 Washington Avenue, Newport News, Virginia, with respect to the proposed adoption by the City Council of an ordinance to authorize the City to contract a debt and issue General Obligation General Improvement Bonds of the City in the principal amount of $53,375,000, and in anticipation of the issuance of such bonds to issue General Obligation General Improvement Bond Anticipation Notes of the City, to finance the costs of various public improvement projects of and for the City, for the purposes and in the amounts set forth below; provided that if any purpose set forth below shall require less than the entire respective amount so set forth the difference may be applied to any of the other purposes so set forth:

The proposed ordinance will rescind previous bond authorizations for authorized and unissued general obligation general improvement bonds. The members of the public are invited to attend the public hearing and to appear and present their views on the proposed ordinance. The full text of the proposed ordinance, together with a complete project listing, is on file in the office of the City Clerk of the City, City Hall, 2400 Washington Avenue, Newport News, Virginia.
