Item 7. Citizen Comments on Matters germane to the Business of City Council
R. Williams - Expressed opposition of the Warwick Lawns Community to the proposal to amend the Windy Knolls development agreement to allow apartment units
A. Singleton-Bey - Opposed to traffic congestion that the Windy Knolls development will generate
J. Gergely - Complimented City Council on its recent vote to request General Assembly to repeal HRTA
L. Irby - Mentioned that Governor Kaine has indicated his opposition to any efforts to legislatively repeal the HRTA. Requested the City to communicate directly with the Governor on its vote to repeal the HRTA
D. Irby - Urged the City to reduce spending
D. Kundis - Thanked City Council for recent vote to ask the General Assembly to repeal HRTA. Also, urged a reduced real estate tax
K. Place - Expressed his opposition of the City's support of General Assembly bills to shut down several citizen boards for environmental permit review
K. Adams - Spoke on bills in General Assembly to repeal HRTA
Item 8 New Business and Councilmember Comments
Allen - Spoke on the merits of the Rt. 460 replacement project proposal for HRTA funding. Cited leadership example in 1992 of VPA proposal for a cruise ship terminal.
McMillan - Expressed appreciation to Warwick Lawn residents for their attendance at the meeting to express their views on the Windy Knolls project. Advised of February 13 meeting at Mary Passage School concerning the Denbigh Community Center project.
Scott - Advised of next North District Town Hall meeting on January 28. Expressed best wisheds to an elderly constituent who was recently released from a nursing home.
