10.    Citizen Comments on Matters Germane to the Business of City Council

J. Armstrong - Advised of his complaint last year about a code violaton involving his neighbor, and that the City handled it improperly.  Mayor Frank advised him to put his concern in writing and send it to him.

D. Young - Advised of a continuing problem on Paddock Drive involving CNU students.

J. Wldblood - Expressed concern about problems with CNU students living on Paddock Drive.

C. Powell - Reviewed details of previous City Manager correspondence to Councilmembers regarding the former Deep Creek Pier. Advocated for rebuilding the Deep Creek Pier.

C. Hogge - Reviewed recent newspaper editorials regarding the former Deep Creek Pier. Advocated for a replacement pier.

B. Bennett - Advocated for immediate planning for City budget cuts.

W. Pelkey - Advocated for immediate planning for City budget cuts.  Espoused the budget positions of RETRO.

Scott - Expressed best wishes to Butch Blanks.  Advised of October 4 "North District Food Drive" at Newport Crossing Center.

Vick - Expressed thanks and best wishes to Butch Blanks.  Thanked Waterworks' staff for giving her a tour of their facilities. Invited residents to join the "Southeast Community Clean Up Event" on Saturday, September 27.

Meeting Times: The Newport News City Council regularly meets at 7:00 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month to take official action on matters brought before it. Council meetings are held in the City Council Chambers located behind City Hall at 2400 Washington Avenue, unless otherwise noted.

Work Sessions for City Council are held on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month prior to the regular City Council meeting in the City Council Conference Room on the 10th floor of City Hall at 2400 Washington Avenue, unless otherwise noted.
