C. Nunnally - Wished Mr. Blanks ado and encouraged Council not to fill his position; also encouraged a 10% cut across the board of the City's budget.
J. Armstrong - Ethics problem addressed with Codes Compliance; thinks it was overlooked. Dropped off letter with pictures to Council.
J. Procyson - Remarks that were encouraging; hopes cuts will be as much as possible in areas that do not directly affect the citizens; glad to see employees will be engaged; mentioned Less Secure about 9 months ago; use careful judgment in CIP; encouraged televising work sessions; freezing travel and food for City Council and staff; work hard for large spending reductions in FY 2010.
A.C. Pulliam - Has talked with city employees who feel they can save money in their departments; Fire indicates equipment could not be repaired since the shop was closed; police indicate that they are training young officers who are then leaving the City; questioned why we have road marking equipment, but contract out the work. Head of trash collection had to come to a site to give permission to pick up a cut tree when three trucks had sat there over 30 minutes waiting for him; mice in Hilton library.
C.W. Powell - Deep Creek Pier advocate; argument appears to be about places to park and no one is around the pier by 11 or 12 o'clock. Please give them their pier back.
C. Hogge - Attended VA Indian and Tribal Pow Wow and inquired about the reservoir; don't forget about the Deep Creek community even though the City is having tough financial times. Asked about plans to displace Menchville Marina watermen.
J. Gergley - Residential parking affected by CNU students; he thinks there should be more emphasis on City codes. The article mentioned more than four people living in a house. Encouraged emphasis in Glendale and Shoe Lane areas in the future. City Manager reported that the first meeting in January, Paul Trible will come to work session and the school is committed.
14. New Business and Councilmember Comments
City Manager - Commended staff and Neil Morgan on coordinating Obama visit and Fall festival (Police, Fire, Parks & Recreation); asked Brian Ramaley, President of Metro WW National Association, to give presentation on climate change and impact on water supply.

Woodbury - Thanked speakers for interest in government; mentioned birthday of Councilwoman Scott and Alan Archer; congratulated Downing Gross opening.
Bateman
Frank - Wished Alan Archer happy birthday; 12th anniversary of City Clerk's Service to City of Newport News; who has made an incredible difference.
McMillan - Wished Councilwoman Scott and Alan Archer happy birthday.
Scott - Happy Birthday to Cleder Jones and Alan Archer; reminded public of the Town Hall Meeting on October 27, 2008 - Councilwoman McMillan to host the meeting, 7 p.m., American Legion.
Vick - First community meeting on November 13 at 6 p.m.; asked people to attend.
Whitaker - Wished the City Clerk well.
