9.    Citizen Comments on Matters Germane to the Business of City Council

M. Horne - Complimented the City's Police and Sheriff's personnel, and Council members. Supported the pay increases in the new budget.

D. Young - Reported traffic and codes violations on Paddock Drive and other problems attributable to CNU students. Police are not enforcing the Residential Parking Permit Program in her neighborhood.

J. Wildblood - Spoke of problems on Paddock Drive with CNU students who reside in rented houses. Noted deteriorating condition of her neighborhood. Requested City assistance with the problem.

C. Hogge - Encouraged rebuilding of the Deep Creek Pier as a full working pier for use by watermen.

C. Powell - Urged rebuilding the Deep Creek Pier as a full working pier.

K. Winn - Noted that the Dr. Martin Luther King Park is unfinished - urged completion of that project. Expressed concern about cars being towed and the fines imposed at the new, downtown, paved parking lots.

J. Scott - Spoke in opposition to the closing of the West Avenue Branch Library

S. Abbott - Expressed her opinion that citizens in general are not moving out of the City because of taxes. Reminded City Council of her suggestions for the budget, and allowing ample opportunities for citizen input. Suggested a requirement that all Councilmembers be present for a vote on the City's budget.

10.    New Business and Councilmember Comments

City Manager - Advised of Shirley Wells' retirement and expressed his appreciation for her service to the City.

City Attorney

City Clerk - Thanked City Council for the resolution of recognition that was presented to her.

 

Whitaker - Noted that he is for the citizens and provided his justification for his vote on the Budget.

Frank - Requested a report from the City manager on the purported flight of citizens from the City.

Haskins

McMillan - Congratulated Shirley Wells on her retirement.

Work Sessions for City Council are held on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month prior to the regular City Council meeting in the City Council Conference Room on the 10th floor of City Hall at 2400 Washington Avenue, unless otherwise noted.
