J. Gergley - Suggested a public information campaign for hurricane evacuation routes.

H. Bryant - Requested assistance with parking on 30th Street. Referred to City Manager.

C. Hogge - Advocated rebuilding the Deep Creek Pier and presented records granting the property leading to the pier site to the City.

E. Ashe - Expressed best wishes to Vice Mayor Allen and Councilman Haskins.

J. Scott - Expressed best wishes to Vice Mayor Allen and Councilman Haskins.

A. Brummer - Opposed to giving blanket authority to the City Manager to purchase mitigation sites for the King William Reservoir. Pointed out high cost of maintaining man-made mitigated sites.

K. Place - Commented on past regulatory permitting process for the King William Reservoir project. Advocated against continuation of City legislative efforts to abolish State Regulatory Advisory Boards.

9.    New Business and Councilmember Comments

City Manager - Carryover of Paid Personal Leave

                        Expressed thanks on behalf of City employees to Vice Mayor Allen and Councilman Haskins.

City Attorney - Expressed best wishes to Vice Mayor Allen and Councilman Haskins.

City Clerk - Expressed best wishes to Vice Mayor Allen and Councilman Haskins.

 

Frank - Advised of the July 1, 2008 Re-enactment Ceremony and of the consolidation in 1958. Advised of the City's July 4th Celebration. Presented floral arrangements to Vice Mayor Allen and Councilman Haskins and made farewell remarks.

Haskins - Amendment to contract with City Manager

                Expressed appreciation for floral arrangement and made farewell remarks. Commented on O. J. Brittingham's service to the City and the renaming of Midtown Community Center in his honor and requested more community financial contributions towards the purchase of a plaque.

McMillan - Expressed farewell wishes to Vice Mayor Allen and Councilman Haskins.

Scott - Complimented City Manager on job performance. Made farewell remarks to Vice Mayor Allen and Councilman Haskins.

Whitaker - Complimented City Manager on job performance. Made farewell remarks to Vice Mayor Allen and Councilman Haskins.

Allen - Expressed appreciation for the kind farewell remarks and relayed his personal history working for the City. Complimented City staff.

Bateman - Made farewell remarks to Vice Mayor Allen and Councilman Haskins.

Council meetings are held in the City Council Chambers located behind City Hall at 2400 Washington Avenue, unless otherwise noted.

Work Sessions for City Council are held on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month prior to the regular City Council meeting in the City Council Conference Room on the 10th floor of City Hall at 2400 Washington Avenue, unless otherwise noted.
