11.    Citizen Comments on Matters Germane to the Business of City Council

J. Procyson - Expressed his wish that this evening's meeting meant a new direction for City Council. Offered budget reduction suggestions.

C. Powell - Inquired of City Attorney the whereabouts of the "Watermen Only" parking sign that was located new the former Deep Creek Pier, and wanted to know why the public boat ramp there had been closed

C. Hogge - Congratulated Vice Mayor Whitaker, new and newly re-elected Council members. Responded to citizen email recently blaming watermen for the trash problem at the former Deep Creek Pier.

P. Killebrew - Responded to remarks made at last City Council meeting by former Vice Mayor Allen about RETRO. Espoused goals of group.

City Clerk - Welcomed new Council members and congratulated Councilwoman McMillan and Vice Mayor Whitaker.

McMillan - Expressed best wishes to the team headed to the Virginia History Championship competition.

Scott - Thanked her campaign supporters and congratulated new and returning Council members.

Vick - Thanked her campaign supporters and congratulated new and returning Council members.

Whitaker - Thanked supporters for choosing him as Vice Mayor and pledged his commitment to serve all citizens. Thanked previous Council members Allen and Haskins.

Woodbury - Thanked her campaign supporters and pledged her commitment to working for citizens.

Meeting Times: The Newport News City Council regularly meets at 7:00 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month to take official action on matters brought before it. Council meetings are held in the City Council Chambers located behind City Hall at 2400 Washington Avenue, unless otherwise noted.

Work Sessions for City Council are held on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month prior to the regular City Council meeting in the City Council Conference Room on the 10th floor of City Hall at 2400 Washington Avenue, unless otherwise noted.
