All weekender inmates are required to pay a fee of $10.00 for each day of time served in this program (Virginia Code s53.1-131.1). A fee of $20.00 (for a two-day weekend) is required when the inmate reports. Only cash, money orders, or a bank cashiers check, made payable to the City of Newport News, will be accepted for payment. No other form of payment will be accepted. Failure to pay this fee constitutes a violation of this agreement, which will result in the inmate being held in jail, and returned to the sentencing court for further action.

Weekenders who are sentenced to serve time at the Newport News Department of Adult Corrections need to report to 100 City Farm Rd., located off Menchville Road in the Denbigh section of Newport News. Inmates are to report on time by 6:00pm on Friday and will depart the facility on Sunday at 5:00pm(unless their court order states otherwise). The Newport News Department of Adult Corrections has no authority to excuse an inmatefrom weekend incarceration for any reason. If there is a problem, the inmatemust get approval from the court where he was sentenced. It is the inmate's responsibility. Weekender inmates are assigned to a work detail and will work under the supervision of a Correctional Officer performing jobs such as painting, picking up paper, weeding, etc., throughout the City of Newport News. They are expected to bring work clothing appropriate for weather conditions, including shoes. Also, there are no provisions for private vehicles, therefore, the inmate will be responsible for having someone transport him to the Newport News Department of Adult Corrections on Friday and for picking him up upon release on Sunday evening.

The following is a list of items that will be considered authorized for weekend inmates:

• Inmates must have a driver's license or other form of photo ID when reporting.
• Inmates are allowed two changes of underwear. Thermal underwear during periods of cold weather, two pair of socks, two pair of shoes: A) one pair of work boots B) one pair of shower shoes.
• Jacket or coat during cold weather (without hood)
• One comb and/or brush
• One watch and one wedding ring
• Weekender inmates are authorized to bring cash in the amount of $6.00 for soda coupons and $20.00 weekenders fees.
• Prescribed Medication: This medication should be only the required amount for one weekend stay at the City Farm. Note: All prescribed medication must be in original containers from the issuing pharmacy. If this requirement is not met, the medication will not be accepted. Prosthetics (surgical and/or dental — e.g., false teeth/artifical limbs), hearing aids, crutches, and canes are allowed. If you have any medical problems or limitations, you must provide documentation from your physician.
