Major Judson D. Moore, Jr., Jail Administrator, was born in Newport News, Virginia, and has lived in the Seaford area of York County since 1963.  He began his work career as an Operations Supervisor with the County of York in 1985.  In February 2000, he was hired as the Operations Administrator for the Newport News Department of Adult Corrections, and in October 2006 added Jail Administrator to his list of duties.  His current responsibilities include Detention Operations, and the coordinator of projects and work requests for the Road Services, Construction, and Equipment Maintenance Divisions.

Major Moore is a graduate of Old Dominion Unversity, where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration.  He is a member of the American Correctional Association and the American Jail Association.

Major Moore has been married for 23 years and has two sons in college; one is a senior at Virginia Commonwealth University, and will graduate in May 2007, and his younger son is a freshman, who plays both football and baseball at Averett University. 

Major Moore is active in his church, Zion United Methodist Church, and in youth sports.  He has coached various Little League and AAU baseball teams and is currently an Assistant Football and Baseball Coach at York High School.
