Edward "Nate" Nathaniel
Lieutenant Edward "Nate" Nathaniel is from Magnolia, MS. He joined the United States Air Force in 1968, serving over 22 years for his country. He received numerous awards and medals during his military career. He was an AFROTC instructor at Tuskegee University for four years, and served one year in the Republic of Vietnam. During his military career he attended the University of Chicago (business school) and the Community College of the Air Force, receiving an Associates Degree in Business Management. During his twelve plus years with the Department of Adult Corrections, Officer Nathaniel has held a number of positions, to include: Sr. Correctional Officer, Sergeant, and Lieutenant. He received Employee of the Month for the City in August 1997, and Employee of the Year that same year, as well as Employee of the Month for the City in June 2003. In May 2004, he received the International Corrections Officer's Award, which was presented to him in Washington, D.C. by the National Association of Correctional Officers. During this same period he received the City "Resolution of Recognition" Award.
Lt. Nathaniel is currently the Classifications Officer, responsible for processing of all inmates, supervision of the Dining Facility, and Supply operations.
