| Harry Potter Exhibit The Grissom Library will host a traveling exhibit featuring teen wizard Harry Potter from Sept. 5. - Oct. 16, 2010. The exhibit, “Harry Potter's World: Renaissance, Science, Magic, and Medicine” will explore the world of Harry Potter and its roots in Renaissance magic, science, and medicine. Along with the exhibit, Grissom Library will host a number of special programs, beginning with a kickoff program on Saturday, Sept. 11, featuring costumes, food, crafts, prizes and more. Harry Potter movies will be shown during a movie “marathon.” Book and film discussions are planned, as well as a trivia contest. |

| Orson Scott Card to Speak at CNU Orson Scott Card, best-selling author of "Ender's Game" will speak at Christopher Newport University's Ferguson Center for the Arts in Newport News on October 28, 2010 at 7pm. This event is free, but tickets are required. Free tickets for the author talk, question and answer session, and book signing will be available starting Sept. 28 at the sponsoring libraries of the Virginia Peninsula Literary Consortium. |

| Upcoming Booksale The next booksale will be at West Avenue Library on Sept. 16-18. Hours for the sale are noon-6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 16; 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 17; and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18. A special preview for Friends members is 10 a.m.-noon on Thursday, Sept. 16. Thousands of fiction and nonfiction books are available, including collections of classics, foreign languages, military history, textbooks, children’s books, collectibles and out-of-print books. |
